Steps for Students Distance Challenge with Fitness Trackers

The Steps for Students Distance Challenge will promote wellness by encouraging participants to move more often during the day. The goal is to move however you choose to do so in the month of March to make a total of 116,000 steps for the 116,000 students we have in ND.  Depending on your stride a mile is 2,000-2,500 steps. For the sake of averaging this out and having even numbers, our goal will be 2 miles a day.

Participants may use a pedometer or other step tracker to record the number of daily miles traveled and record this number into the ChallengeRunner.com system either through the website or by using the ChallengeRunner smartphone apps. While it is recommended that participants log distance every evening, they have up to seven days to record daily distance. The totals of those distances are then compared against one another and a real-time leaderboard.

This challenge will run for 4 weeks in the month of March. At the conclusion of this challenge, all participants who have completed the challenge will receive a Worksite Voucher Award worth $60/6,000 points towards their Benefit Rewards.

The Distance Challenge with Fitness Trackers has the following characteristics:

  • In the leaderboard, each participant is able to see where they stand in relation to other participants using real names.
  • Distance should be recorded and logged every day; however, participants may enter distance moved up to seven days after the log date.
