Description:
As part of a two-year HealthyCommunity50 Challenge, Spartanburg is working to increase physical activity reported by individuals. The Spartanburg Physical Activity HC50 Challenge encourages Spartanburg County municipality employers and employees to form teams of 5-15 and compete for the highest number of steps each month over the course of three rounds, three months each (February-April, May-July, August-October), with a November Finale.
Each team will compete for the most steps each month (walked or run). The program will average the total steps per month for the entire team divided by the number of teammates. Each participant should aim for a minimum of 10,000 steps per day for optimal health benefits. The system has a ceiling of 20,000 steps per person per day to help eliminate outliers. Physical activity tracking devices that are synced into ChallengeRunner will automatically update an individual's steps daily. Individuals who manually enter data are encouraged to enter it daily, but must submit data no later than the last day of each month.
