Description:
Staying hydrated is important for everyone, but especially important for athletes. In addition to other factors (sleep, diet), the amount of water can affect how much energy we have. As little as 3% dehydration can lead to a decrease in athletic performance. For a youth athlete that is fewer than 2 ounces!
Challenge rules:
Drink 48 ounces of water (6 cups) BEFORE practice or end of day
-try to spread this out through the the day; a good rule of thumb is drink a cup of water each hour and a half
Drink 16 ounces of water (2 cups) AFTER practice or end of day
Another great way to stay hydrated is eat watery fruits and vegetables like watermelon and celery.
Winner(s): the person with the leading number of days completed (8 cups total), bonus points if you get your parents and siblings involved!
